Launa's Canyon (Kingman, Arizona)

The ghost who haunts Launa’s Canyon in Kingman, Arizona has her own ghostly history. Legend says that Launa was one of the many wives who were dragged to the area during the 1800s. Though she didn’t relish the idea of heading out into the wilderness, she agreed to seek a better future.

Launa didn’t have it easy though, because her husband was previously married and had two young daughters. The husband and wife traveled with the daughters to Kingman, hoping to strike it rich in gold. The girls made her life miserably, constantly reminding her that she could never replace them.

Maybe it was the fortune the family built, or maybe Launa couldn’t take it anymore. When she found herself pregnant, she decided to get rid of his daughters. After killing them, she hid their bodies in the house. She took a long walk, only to come to her senses and realize what she did. She started screaming and asking for help, begging for her husband to feel sorry for her and forgive her. Though history doesn’t record what happened to Launa, many claim that you can hear her mournful cries still echoing through the canyon late at night.

Birchwood Saloon (Chugiak, Alaska)

Chugiak is home to the Birchwood Saloon, which some claim is one of the most haunted places in all of Alaska. The man who haunts the building once worked in the area, and he had the misfortune of accidentally dying on the property. While shoveling snow off the roof of a nearby building, he made the mistake of using a metal shovel. The instant the metal broke through the ice and into a power line, he died.

The young man keeps coming back to the Birchwood Saloon, driving current employees crazy. The ghost sometimes moves furniture and barware around, and he likes making the jukebox turn itself on. Those who work at the saloon sometimes see dark shadows inside or hear people talking in soft voices, as if the resident ghost made a few friends.

Old Brunswick High School (Brunswick, Maine)

When Brunswick, Maine announced plans to demolish the Old High School in favor of a new school, some in the community breathed a sigh of relief. For years, students passed along stories claiming that three former students died on the property and their spirits haunted the building.

The truth is that one student did die on her way home from the school. Mimi was a high school girl who wanted nothing more than to spend a snowy day with her boyfriend. On their way home from school, the boyfriend accidentally drove into a snow bank. He hit the icy ground with such force that his car got stuck. The snow blocked their only exits from the car, and the two died before help arrived. Many of the reports claim that Mimi haunts the school: slamming doors, making furniture and other things move around the school, and generally making a nuisance of herself.

Kalihoma Indian Reservation (Ada, Oklahoma)

Haunted highways are almost a dime a dozen in the United States, and one of the most haunted roads is the road near the Kalihoma Indian Reservation. A ghostly driver in a dark car follows those who dare drive down Highway 48 late at night. Legend says that those who want to experience the phenomena should hear down the road, moving to Highway 1.

This dark car looks even darker because it lacks any headlights. The car seemingly comes out of nowhere, chasing any car that drives by. Once you hit Highway 1, the car turns around and drives off, leaving you to wonder what actually happened…

Aberdeen Baptist Church (Aberdeen, Ohio)

From the outside, the Aberdeen Baptist Church looks just like any other church in a small Ohio town. All that changes when the sun sets and this church comes to life with paranormal activity. The church has an odd feeling, according to those who made the mistake of driving by after dark. The same feeling sometimes occurs inside the church.

The Aberdeen Baptist Church also has three resident ghosts. The ghosts of a little boy standing with two little girls sometimes appear on the side of the church. Whenever anyone looks at them directly, the trio disappear. There are also reports of people shouting or screaming in pain from inside, long after the sun drops in the sky. As an added bonus, several people saw odd black birds appear from nowhere, flying from windows in the church.

The Bonnie and Clyde Death Site in Arcadia, Louisiana

Bonnie and Clyde share the kind of history that many people wish they had a chance to share…at least when it comes to the money. The two led police on a chase across the country, stealing from multiple banks and other locations. The end of their lives came in the small town of Arcadia, Louisiana. Ironically enough, the two remained convinced until the very end that they could somehow escape and live a happy life together.

Thousands of people come to this town to revisit the spot, and some visitors stay until late at night. A local legend says that the site where the two lost their lives is now haunted by their spirits. When the moon is full, some claim that the night sky fills with gun shots, mimicking the last moments in their lives.

Bottenfield Middle School (Adamsville, Alabama)

The ghost haunting the Bottnefield Middle School in Adamsville, Alabama is one of those rare ghosts who appears without any warning. Some rumors surrounding the ghost claim that in life, he was a student at the middle school, while other rumors claim that he had a connection to a home that once sat near the school.

Regardless of the rumors, the story is usually the same. Students, faculty members, and some janitors spotted a solitary young boy standing in the school, near where the choir and band practices. Before anyone can say a word, he always disappears. The ghost shows up at random times throughout the day, though many saw him late at night after the school closes for the day.
